I am sure most, if not everyone has heard of the outrage sparked by Anton Casey’s comment regarding public transport users. I too, express my disapproval and disappointment towards the insensitive comments. However, the focus of this post will not be on Anton Casey himself. Rather, I will focus the people who have threatened the Casey family due to their anger towards the matter.
While I understand locals who condemn Anton Casey’s offensive comments, I believe the threats made toward the Casey family to be slightly overboard. As Minister Shanmugan have said, “Singaporeans are better than that”. Since the Briton has apologized for his behavior and have since been fired, shouldn't Singaporeans let the matter rest (since it has been quite a while since the matter was sparked) and let the family live in peace? Everyone makes mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance. Sure, people can and will condemn them, but does that mean they should be not forgiven and denied a second chance?
